Kintsugi Vase – Antique Victoria Czechoslovakia Porcelain with 23k Gold Repair
Description
This early 20th-century porcelain vase from Victoria, Czechoslovakia carries a layered history. Originally repaired long ago with brown adhesive — a common restoration method of its time — it has now been given new life through the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
Rather than erase its past, I honored it. The old adhesive was preserved, cleaned, and then enhanced using natural urushi lacquer and 23k gold, transforming former scars into glimmering threads of resilience.
This is not traditional Kintsugi from beginning to end — but it is a sincere continuation of its spirit. I never use glue or imitation gold. Only real urushi lacquer and genuine gold.
